Eva Gullvåg Aasgaard Wermuth was born and raised on the small island of Herøy, Norway, near the Arctic Circle. At the age of 16, she moved to the mainland to attend High school in the town of Mosjøen. After receiving her Diploma with emphasis on music, she was directly accepted at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo, graduating from there after 6 1⁄2 years as ‘Master of Music’. In Oslo, Eva participated as a soloist in a number of great musical works such as Handel’s ‘Messiah’, Bach’s ‘St. John Passion’ and Mozart’s ‘Requiem’. While studying the role of April in Stephan Sondheim’s musical ‘Company’ (Oslo 2000), Eva discovered her love to the ‘Musical Theatre’ genre with its combination of singing, dance and acting. In 2001, Eva traveled to Germany, searching new challenges and experience in the Musical scene. Working with Vocal coach John Lehman in Hamburg, she was soon able to establish her career, accepting an engagement to the ensemble of the European Tour of Cole Porter’s ‘Kiss me, Kate’ (2001/2002). Main roles followed, including Prinzessin Sophie von Bayern in the musical ‘Ludwig II’ (Füssen/Germany, 2002/2003), Ellen in “Miss Saigon” (St.Gallen/Switzerland, 2002/2004) and Maria in ‘West Side Story’ (Kassel/Germany, 2004). As first cast Jellylorum/Griddlebone and cover Grizabella in Stage Entertainment’s tour-version of ‘Cats’ (2005/2006), Eva visited many beautiful cities in Germany and Switzerland and in the summer production of ‘Heidi das Musical’ (Walenstadt/Switzerland, 2006) she could be seen as Hedwig Kappeler. 2007 Eva appeared as Cosette in ‘Les Misérables’ in two different productions; in St.Gallen (Switzerland) and at the Bad Hersfelder Festspiele (Germany). At the Aalto Theater in Essen (Germany) she could (2007/2009) be seen as Anna in ‘Das Feuerwerk’. During the summer of 2008, Eva played the role of Emma (in German Lisa) in ‘Jekyll & Hyde’ (Burgfestspiele Bad Vilbel), and 2009 she portrayed the title role in ‘Evita’ (Plauen- Zwickau/Germany). In 2011 Eva again sang the role of Emma in ‘Jekyll & Hyde’ (Pforzheim/Germany), before taking a couple of years time to mainly enjoy the maternal role. In 2015 Eva was back on stage, singing and acting the role of the maid Christine and the Opera Singer, in the world premiere of the musical ‘Gefährliche Liebschaften’ (‘Dangerous liaisons’) in Munich (Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz).
As of Summer 2015 Eva and her family will live in Norway again, but she will continously be seen on German and international stages.
